Today was the annual caramel apple making party for our neighborhood at which we bid each other goodbye before crawling into our holes to hibernate for the winter.  Lots of caramel was consumed by the children…not much apple.  After this caramel blow-out, we came home and I started making soup.  Much to my delight, I discovered that this new recipe for baked potato soup called for adding six tablespoons of butter to 1/2 a pound of bacon.  If your gonna go, go big!
