Never too young to be safe…

I just walked by my bedroom and noticed that J. had the little children sitting cross-legged in a row and was in front of them instructing them in the basics of fire-prevention, while they listened with serious faces.

“Never play with matches,” I heard her say.

“And never leave an oily rag on the stove.”

“And,” she concluded, “Never EVER smoke in bed.”

They nodded wisely.
