Advent Reflections

December 20, 2011

We are leaving for Christmas in Birmingham tonight, so last night we concluded our evening Advent Devotional.  I think we can celebrate having done something for more than one night in a row, although some of us gleaned more from the readings than others.  Elisabeth is probably ready to lead the devotional.

When asked, “Elisabeth, what does Advent mean?”  She answered, “Waiting for Jesus to come.”  Close enough.

And when asked, “Elisabeth, Who is the light of the world?”  She answered, “Jesus is.”

Young Charlie, on the other hand, has a ways to go.

When asked, “Charlie, what does Advent mean?”  He answered without hesitation: “Daddy reads me a story, and I eat a candy cane!”

And when asked, “Charlie, who is the light of the world, ” he responded just as confidently with: “Daddy is!”
