Down on the Farm

September 25, 2011

Lots of fun was had yesterday reuning with Wheaton friends at the Calvin family’s farm.  The children were especially taken with the apple trees.  In fact, it was a lemonade cooler (see camping post “Victory”) situation all over again.  While the other boys played running games,

and the other  little girls played water store,

mine could not be torn away from the apple tree.

Faced with hundreds of lovely apples, it was so hard to settle on just the right one.  No sooner would they pick one, than they would find themselves overcome with self-doubt, consumed with longing for the apple they didn’t pick.  Not to worry!  They know just what to do in these circumstances.  Offer the apple to Dad, of course.  Dan ate one rejected apple after another after another after another lest a single apple go to waste.  There’s just something about the pull of a help-yourself-unlimited situation that the twins find irresistible. Dear Lord, may they never darken the doors of the Old Country Buffet!

Tune in tomorrow for: Foster Care 101, brought to you by the letter “E”.

Note: I have no idea what I am doing with my hands. I must’ve blocked it out.
