Going Camping

September 10, 2011

We’re headed on our first family camping trip today.  Depending on the outcome, it may also be remembered as our last family camping trip.  But probably not.  Dan and I packed the car while the children had rest time.  Elisabeth, it turns out, was not resting.  She was packing furiously.  Her little yellow duffle bag contains:

1. The Jesus Storybook Bible. (With which she will lead the camp devotional.)

2. The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin by Beatrix Potter (With which she can teach us to forage for food should we need to, and also how to handle a talking Owl).

3. The Tale of Jeremy Fisher by Beatrix Potter (Especially important if we decide to go fishing and get swallowed by a large bass).

4. Baby’s First Words (Helpful should Miss P decide to start talking tonight).

5. The Day Jimmy’s Boa Constrictor Ate the Wash (On encountering snakes and what to do if they eat your laundry).

It is not every day you get to go camping with a librarian.

Thanks in large part to you! Also, I had already informed the twins that you want them to call you Grammie. Oops.
