We are celebrating six years of suspense, intrigue, adventure: a marriage. Last year, still recovering from the shock of having children, we both forgot our anniversary until Betsy called to remind us.  But this year we have come roaring back with a little trip to the Olson’s lake house in Wisconsin.  The children will join us tomorrow.  They will not be driving themselves as Charlie wrongly assumed the last time I said the girls would be driving together in my car.  “But Miss P is too little to drive!” He wailed (on the verge of tears at the thought).

Dan and I feel a little guilty.  We are here under false pretenses.  Last night as Dan was tucking the twins in he told them that he and I would be coming to Amery tomorrow.  At the horrified response of the children to this distressing news (delivered during the critical lights out period (???)) he quickly backpedaled.  “Oh, I mean we are all  going to Amery together…On Saturday.”  They were very suspicious this morning as we loaded the car.  We kept reassuring them that we were just going on a long date and then we would all be together in Amery on Saturday (which is technically true I must point out).  Elisabeth was walking around (laughing nervously) repeating: “Daddy said they were going to Amery without us, but that was a joke!” Ha.

I so enjoy reading your posts! Glad you are getting away to celebrate! Dave and I just went to a B&B in Red Wing while the kids stayed with my folks. Such a wonderful blessing to have time for just grown-ups!
