Boys, Boys, Boys

June 28, 2011

We’ve been very busy these past two days enjoying the company of Wendy and her boys (5 boys ages 6 and under). The highlight of the time for me was spending two hours at the park before anyone was injured. Then the inevitable injury sent us home. (One brother fell off his bike and another brother rode over him).  But we did last two hours.  A personal record!

I was surprised again at how easy these boys are to have around.  Charlie, Elisabeth, and (especially) Mary Patience, take a lesson.  One of my favorite things to do with Wendy’s boys is dine.  They eat with such gusto, and how they linger at table!  My own little peppers are birdlike eaters and finish in five minutes and two bites a meal that took an hour to prepare. Wendy got up this morning and made Belgian waffles.  Her boys were still enjoying their waffles 45 minutes after mine had gone outside to play.  We ate this morning as a group of three adults and eight children and only sustained one spill.  But it was a big one.  It required a bath towel. Strangely, the spiller was not one of the short people.  It was the tall man.

I am impressed that Dan wears a tie to breakfast.
