Check Up

June 21, 2011

The twins had a successful check-up yesterday with Dr. Melchert.  I am pleased to report that both are healthy and growing and Elisabeth is now solidly on the charts at 10th percentile for height and weight (after hovering around the 1st percentile these three years).  For the first time, they were offered a hospital gown to wear as they waited in their little underwear for the Dr.  They were very excited about this.  “Hey, hey, I look just like Mom!” Charlie offered.  For the record, I do not roam the house in a hospital gown.

Before checking their bottoms, Dr. Melchert stopped for a little patient education.  “Now, has your mom told you that no one can look in your underwear except your mom and dad and the Dr. only if your mom says it’s okay?”  They just stared at him, as I have in fact told them no such thing.  They must’ve been mulling this over, because later in the day when our friends arrived to play, Charlie pointed right at his friend Braylen as he walked in the door and shouted, “Bray you can NOT look in my underwear.”  Glad we cleared that up.  Although not quite: this morning when Dan said, “Look at my hair, I need a haircut,” they shot a panicky glance at me asking, “Is it okay to look at somebody’s hair?” You can’t be too careful.
