Well we have taken our show on the road.  Flying to Birmingham then driving to Samson, Alabama for Papaw’s family reunion at the family farm.

THE OPEN ROAD:

THE BARN:

A SHOWER LEANING AGAINST THE BARN:

I call the above series, “South Alabama: The beauty and the strangeness”.

Friday night found us heading back to cousins Hayden and Jule’s who had graciously offered to host our family for the night.  They weren’t home yet and told us to let ourselves in with the spare key hidden in the garage.  Somewhere.  They couldn’t remember where.  Dan ransacked the garage of people he’d only met once, while the children did flips in the car, wild and hilarious with fatigue from the day, the highlight of which was a giant waterslide. (Even I donned my suit to slide.  I took out two small boys on my way down and retired…for the children’s sake.) Dan was unsuccessful in his search, so we waited for Hayden and Jule in the car while dogs circled us hungrily.  It was well worth the (short) wait.  In addition to comfortable beds, Hayden and Jule have a treadmill and little exercise trampoline, which rivalled the giant waterslide in excitement for the children.  They also have 3-D t.v. Below: Charlie enjoys the waterslide and more reunion pics.
