Each day brings new challenges

May 6, 2011

1. Every morning I contend with Elisabeth’s bed-head.  The hardest part is not laughing.

2. We all contend with  Miss P’s falls.  She is all over the place.  Up and down the stairs. Up to the top of the slides at the park.  Climbing and falling is the order of the day.  The twins follow her around the house yelling, “Catch her, Mommy!  Catch her.” Here she is, swollen and bloody:

3. Every afternoon we deal with Mr. Rogers. (not pictured) Yesterday, I walked through the living room as the twins were watching our television neighbor.  I met with a stinky smell.  Concerned that someone might have had an accident, and wondering if I needed to check everybody’s pants, I asked politely, “Did someone pass gass?”  Elisabeth denied it vehemently (from inside a moving box).  “Charlie, did you?”

Charlie: “No, I did not.”

Me: “Hmmm, well then who did?”

Charlie: “Probably Mr. Rogers.”

Fred Rogers continues to be a gentle presence to yet another generation, and I do not doubt he gets credit for many “activities.” And now he is assisting as a distraction for your family as you pack to MOVE to a wonderful home.

And all of these challenges are SO worth it! Happy mother’s day, Lucy.
