Big Weekend

April 17, 2011

This was a big weekend for all of us.  The twins were introduced to Easter Eggs.  They really hit it off.  Elisabeth proved to be a patient egg dipper waiting for just the right color pink.  Charlie was more of your typical male experimental dipper, choosing to dip each egg in multiple colors to see what might happen.  Brown boy eggs is what happened.  I remember these boy eggs from my own childhood days of dying eggs with brother George. Boy eggs always look something like this:

It was also a big weekend for the grow-nuts (as the children call us).  Dan and I, feeling a certain craziness brought on by a cold, snowy weekend in mid-April decided at 2:30 p.m. to do something wild and go to an afternoon movie.  We called our trusty baby sitter Elizabeth Fisher, who fortunately was available to come over right away and stay through bedtime.  Elizabeth is the Navy SEAL of babysitters.  Last time she came we told her when she arrived that we had decided to go out with friends and she would be keeping all of the children together.  No problem!  Nothing is ever too much for her.  If anything has ever gone wrong she has never told us about it, and I prefer to keep it that way.  We went to see True Grit and then to dinner.  We realized we could not go home because as it was only 8:00 the twins might not be asleep so we did the only thing we could do…BINGO (just happened to see a BINGO sign outside of a church on our way home).  It was a well attended BINGO night.  We made some lovely friends and learned something new: BINGO is very popular in the gay community.

If anything had ever gone wrong Elizabeth would have told me, she has always had a fantastic time watching your kids and any others that happen to be there. Nothing has ever gone wrong:o).
