“Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth.” Psalm 127:

Charlie spent an hour this afternoon learning,”How to shoot a bow and arrow” from Uncle George.  “Hey, hey, I am shooting!”  He kept yelling, unable to believe this could be real.  He was shooting small  sticks.  Uncle George had to cut little notches in the sticks with his pocket knife.  Then he cut a little notch in his thumb.  He bandaged it up with a paper towel and valiantly carried on with the lesson for another 45 minutes.

Towards the end of the lesson I told George: “This is a real high point in the week for Charlie.”

George, with a nod to his thumb: “Well, it’s kind of a low point for me.” Upon finishing his lesson, “How to shoot with a bow”, George proceeded straight to the hospital where the low point required eight stitches.

Poor George! Way to persevere on the uncle duties, though. And what a treat to be able to spend time with both sibs. Enjoy!

Just like Robin Hood in the Middle Ages-good with the bow and stout-hearted (both Charlie and George). We have been traveling through the Middle Ages here in France and Barcelona.
